Election of President, Treasurer & Members of Council
The President and Treasurer of the RHS are elected annually by the members of the Society at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The other 15 elected members of Council usually serve for five years with at least three retiring each year and their replacements being elected at the AGM.

Notice of Election 2012
An election will be held at the 2012 AGM to fill three ordinary vacancies on the RHS Council. Those elected to fill the ordinary vacancies will be expected to serve a five year term.
An election will also be held at the 2012 AGM for the office of President and Treasurer. Those elected will serve a one year term.
To stand for election for President or Treasurer you must be a member of the Society at 1 March 2012 and remain a member at 26 June 2012 and throughout your term of office. Those standing for election to Council must have been a member of the Society since 1 March 2009. You must also be aged 18 or above on 26 June 2012 and not be disqualified from serving as a trustee under charities legislation.
A nomination paper, supported with the signatures of a Supporter, Seconder and six other RHS members, should be completed and returned by Thursday, 1 March 2012.

In the event of there being more candidates than there are vacancies to be filled, an election will be held by postal ballot in the weeks immediately before the Annual General Meeting.
