IRB Training Course and Certificate
The University of Alaska Anchorage offers an online IRB training course through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program For The Protection of Human Research Subjects. The course was designed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to cover issues relevant to research at UAA.
This training is up-to-date and meets the federal requirements for training in human subjects protections. We suggest that you remember your login, so you can always go back in and complete as time allows.
Access to the CITI IRB training course
The training course can be accessed here: http://www.citiprogram.org.
- Click the "Register Here" link on the front page. Select "University of Alaska Anchorage" as your participating institution from the drop down menu. Complete the registration process.
- In the CITI Course Registration page, enter your information. If you do not have a UAA identification number, enter "0000000" (no quotation marks).
- Once you've completed registration, click on the "Go Back to Learner's Main Menu" link. This will display CITI courses that you have not started or may have already completed. On the Learner's Menu page, under Status, click on the "Not Started-Enter" link to access the training course.
An IRB Training Certificate is good for three years. This Certificate is included when submitting a proposal to the IRB. The Principal Investigator should also include with the submission the IRB Training Certificates for all others involved with implementing the actual research.
A Word or PDF copy of the training certificate is submitted with your study on IRBNet. For more information regarding IRBNet, please click the IRBNet Resources page on the left hand side.
Once your CITI training course in human subjects research has expired on citiprogram.org, you will be able to complete a refresher course using the original login and password. To access your original login information, click the "Forgot login information" link on the front page.
