Chancellor welcomes future UA Scholars

Chancellor Maimon Welcomes 2006 UA Scholars

By: Lori Keim   Oct 14, 2005

Chancellor Elaine P. Maimon welcomed more than a hundred 2006 Alaska Scholars (current high school seniors) and several hundred more of their parents and guardians attending a reception and information session at the University of Alaska Anchorage Thursday evening. The purpose of the event was to provide the newly awarded Scholars and their families with information on all the exciting and wonderful opportunities University of Alaska campuses have to offer when they accept their scholarship awards. Students from all over south central Alaska attended the event at UAA, including a number from Homer, Kenai, Wasilla, and Palmer.

The students had opportunities to converse with staff representing a number of different UAA programs, as well as with other representatives from the Statewide system.

A total of 942 UA Scholarships have been awarded to members of Alaska’s high school graduating Class of 2006. All 942 were invited to the reception at UAA, and to receptions at UAF and UAS in the upcoming weeks.
