Southcentral Alaska Women in Higher Education presents the fall luncheon “Pathways to Leadership in Higher Education: Discovering Opportunities for Leadership and Leading from Where You Are” Friday, December 9, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in APU/UAA Consortium Library 307. All women faculty, staff, and administrators are encouraged to attend.The event will include lunch, a panel of women sharing stories about how they arrived in their current position of leadership within UAA or APU, and discussion tables on topics such as risk-taking, networking, communication skills, mentoring, problem solving, and balancing work and other interests/family.
Panelists include UAA Chancellor Elaine Maimon, APU Masters of Arts Program Director Mei Mei Evans, UAA Alaska Native Studies Director Nancy Furlow, and UAA Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities and Campus Services Cyndi Spear.

Southcentral Alaska Women in Higher Education (SAWHE) is a grassroots network for the advancement of higher education in Southcentral Alaska. We hope to become one of the most impactful grassroots networks for the advancement of women in higher education in the country. As a regional caucus of Alaska Women in Higher Education (along with similar networks in Northern and Southeast Alaska), SAWHE undertake such things as the sponsorship of conferences, leadership forums, workshops, job information alerts, and other programs and services for women in higher education in Alaska.
