Landscape of the Body
This play is a multilayered investigation of American violence. In one sense it is a murder mystery: A boy is found dead and his mother becomes the prime suspect. Set in the seamy underworld of Greenwich Village, Landscape of the Body unexpectedly blends searing tragedy, comedy and original music. Award-winning playwright John Guare crafts a shattering climax revealing lives devastated by lies and illusions. This play contains adult language and situations. John Guare has been a frequent visitor to The Last Frontier Theater Conference in Valdez.
This production features performances by UAA students and community members. Set is designed by noted Anchorage artist Margret Hugi-Lewis, costumes by Charlotte Kopp, light design by Brent Glenn and sound design by Frank Hardy.
