Certificate Description
UAA's Certificate in Civic Engagement prepares you to become an active, effective, ethical citizen in your professional and personal life. You will develop reflective, analytic, and practical skills to link your learning to civic engagement through service-learning classes, internships, community-engaged scholarship and creative activities. This program highlights scholarly community action in civic engagement, poverty, environmental sustainability, community-building, public policy, and ethics. The Certificate is intended for people committed to action for the greater good.
The Civic Engagement Certificate is designed to be completed in three to four years. For students who are very focused or develop an interest in civic engagement later in their academic careers, it may be completed in as few as two years. Many courses already required for degree completion can be applied to this program, such as GER courses and major requirements.
