"Becoming a Bonner Leader has been one of the greatest excitements to m undefined
y life. I’ve naturally enjoyed voluntary service from my youth, growing up in a jungle-village in Africa, where we had no government or state funding for anything. Neighborhoods depended on communal labor to keep communities running. A day in every week was set aside for communities to come together and engage in public services. That was how we built our roads, bridges, schools, police stations, public toilets, markets, the post office, clinics, just to name a few.
This spirit of making a difference in the society has always lived with me and so when I was introduced to the Bonner Leaders Program at UAA in the Fall of 2006, I considered it a privilege to join. I have since loved and appreciated the opportunity given to me by the Bonner Program to be part of building my community and help make the world a better place. I am glad to be part of this great organization, because according Gandhi, if I want to see any positive change in this world; I must be part of that change."
