Should a student require academic accommodation (e.g. extended testing time, notetaking assistance), a notification letter, typically hand-delivered by the student, will be provided to you which identifies those accommodations. If a student approaches you requesting accommodations based on disability without a notification letter from this department, you are under no obligation to provide accommodations; however, please refer the student to DSS.
Syllabus Statement
To inform students of this department please include a syllabus statement that alerts students to our purpose and location on campus.
Including a link to the DSS homepage is also recommended.
DSS serves as a resource for questions regarding academic accommodations including those related to technology, and other disability issues. Additionally, DSS maintains a lending library of disability-related periodicals, books, and videotapes for loan should you choose to address the topic of disability within your curriculum.
