The Mission of this department is to provide testing and assessment services to new and continuing students to enhance the attainment of their individual, educational and life goals. The Testing and Assessment department supports many of the testing needs of UAA in addition to serving as a national testing site for the community. It administers a wide range of testing and assessment instruments used for admission (ACT), awarding of college credits, career and life planning, and professional certification. The department can also monitor tests from other educational institutions.

• Testing Center hours coincide with Chugiak-Eagle River Campus's.  We are open for testing from 8:00am until 5:00pm.

Accuplacer Testing

What is Accuplacer? Accuplacer is UAA's approved placement test to assess your skills in English and Mathematics. You are only permitted to register for English and Mathematics courses at the level indicated by your Accuplacer test results, ACT or SAT scores. Cut off scores for placement in English and Mathematics based on ACT or SAT scores can be found in the Schedule of Classes. ACT English and SAT Writing Scores are valid for two years from the date taken, ACT and SAT Mathematics scores are valid for one year. Accuplacer test scores are valid for one year from the date taken. Therefore, if you have not completed the entry level General Education Requirement (GER) in English and/or Mathematics within the required time period, you will be required to retest.

Accuplacer testing is available on a walk-in basis. You may arrive anytime between the hours listed below. The test is administered on a computer and is not timed. Most students take 1 and 1/2 hours to complete the test.
