Special admission requirements and application procedures are required. Selection criteria change periodically. Applicants must contact the department for the selection criteria for the year they wish to apply. Completion of the admission requirements does not guarantee selection into the Dental Hygiene program.  Applicants transferring credit from another institution are encouraged to apply to UAA no later than November 1 prior to May application to Dental Hygiene Program to allow sufficient time for application processing and transcript evaluation by May 20.  Spring enrollment in another institution may postpone transcript evaluation and therefore affect program application acceptance.

1. Applicants must meet with the UAA Dental Hygiene Program advisor regarding application and program admission requirements prior to application deadline.

2. Graduation from high school or equivalent.

3. Documentation from official transcripts showing successful completion of the following science courses with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5:

CHEM A103 (lab optional) or CHEM A105

CHEM A104 (lab optional)

BIOL A111 with a lab

BIOL A112 with a lab

BIOL A240 or BIOL A241.

Courses must be completed by the application deadline.

4. Documentation from official transcripts showing successful completion of the following general requirements courses with a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5:

PSY A153, PSY A111, or PSY A150 (one only)

SOC A101, SOC A201, SOC A222, SOC A307, or SOC A309 (one only)

ENGL A111

COMM A111, COMM A235, COMM A237, or COMM A241 (one only)

Courses must be completed by the application deadline.

5. UAA students may request unofficial transcripts through the Dental Hygiene Program office.  This must be done no later than May 1^st.

6. International students must contact Enrollment Services regarding equivalency evaluation of transcripts.
