The Community and Technical College at the University of Alaska Anchorage provides pathways to a bright future through education.  From our diverse array of courses, programs and services, Alaskans and others can choose a program of study leading to an occupational endorsement, certificate, associates, bachelors, and masters degree – or can simply take courses for personal satisfaction.  Over 40 academic programs provide students knowledge and technical instruction focused on placement and success in leading high demand career areas, important to Alaska, the nation and beyond.

Beyond our academic programs, CTC serves students from across UAA through the Chugach Eagle River Campus, the Office of Military Services, the North Pacific Fisheries Observer Training Center, College Preparatory and Developmental Studies and the UAA Learning Resource Center.  We are also the organizational home of UAA’s AFROTC Detachment 001.

High quality career and technical education is built on a foundation of active partnerships with industry, government and community organizations.  Our faculty and staff work closely with partners through advisory committees, annual career cluster industry forums and alumni development, together building and sustaining programs that are relevant and effective in providing a well educated and technically competent workforce, and a satisfied citizenry.

History

In 1987 the Anchorage Community College merged with the University of Alaska Anchorage. From that merger the College of Community and Continuing Education (CCCE) and the College of Career and Vocational Education (CCVE) were created. A major reorganization occurred in 1996, merging CCCE and CCVE, creating the Community and Technical College

Today, UAA's Community and Technical College annually serves more than 6,000 students through 40 programs, leading to occupational endorsement and undergraduate certificates, associate of applied science and baccalaureate degrees, a master's degree, and a post-baccalaureate dietetic intern program.

CTC employs 76 full-time and 300 part-time faculty, 102 classified, professional and technical staff and is organized through seven career clusters and five service divisions.

Mission Values & Goals

At the Community and Technical College we believe education is the gateway to opportunities for a better life. The College aims to lead Alaskans and others to successful and satisfying careers through advanced technical education, training and services. CTC faculty, staff, and industry and community partners seek to provide Alaska, the nation and the world with a well-educated and technically competent workforce.

  • Reflect Alaska's diversity through student and employee recruitment and through teaching, services, community partnerships and programs that reflect UAA's goals toward cultural, gender and ethnic diversity.
  • Be visible in the community through distinctive print and electronic materials, high profile promotional events and activities, and creative collaborations with students, faculty and partners within and beyond the university.
How You Can Help

The University of Alaska Anchorage Community and Technical College seeks to provide every qualified and financially deserving student with a scholarship.

Why We Need Your Support

Helping financially qualified students obtain access to the opportunities provided by education and training represents an important investment in Alaska and the nation. Financial access to higher education becomes increasingly difficult as the cost of education and living expense rises and public support declines.

Programs like those in CTC educate many of our health care, aviation, hospitality, transportation and fitness workers, and many workers make CTC their first choice for a variety of computer and technology training. Because many of our students attend part-time, they do not qualify for federal financial aid. Scholarships make a difference in our students' lives. If you have items you believe may have an application in our teaching laboratories, we encourage you to contact us by writing to Community & Technical College, 3211 Providence Drive, UC 141, Anchorage, AK 99504 or by calling our main number at 786-6400.
