HeaRTT
The Health Research Think Tank (HeaRTT) consists of UAA research faculty and a broad spectrum of partners from service agencies, research agencies, and health care providers in the community. The group engages in research, roundtables, and community forums on health care issues of importance to Alaskans, supported in part by the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE), the Office of Research and Graduate Studies (OURS), and the Office of Community Partnerships.
During the 2006-07 academic year, HeaRTT hosted two community forums on health and health care in Alaska. A third, planned for March 15 and 16 was cancelled. The series brought together key individuals from the university, medical, government and Anchorage communities. Each session featured a panel of experts, followed by community discussion; the next day, a panel of UAA faculty shared their research and/or perspectives on related topics.
November Forum: Health: At What Price?
The November 16 and 17 events featured discussion of the many factors that influence health and access to healthcare in Alaska, including health literacy, economics, employment, proximity, physical accessibility, and availability.
