Dr. Robert Crosman, Professor of English, has published two books:

READING PARADISE LOST (Indiana Univ. Press, 1980), and

THE WORLD'S A STAGE: SHAKESPEARE AND THE DRAMATIC VIEW OF LIFE (Academica Press, 2005).

He has degrees from Univ. of California, Berkeley, and Columbia Univ. Before coming to UAA in 1985, he taught at Williams College, Trinity College, Tufts Univ., Rice Univ., and MIT. At UAA he has taught at all levels, freshman to graduate, specializing in Renaissance Lit (Shakespeare, Milton, Cervantes, Montaigne, et. al.) and Twentieth Century Lit., especially Proust, Joyce, and Virginia Woolf. In recent years he has developed an interest in African American Lit., in which he has taught surveys, as well as a graduate course on Alice Walker and Toni Morison.

The World's a Stage    

The author in this book wishes to convey Shakesphere's conviction and conformity to his statement, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players..." The author explains that without having made this statement, Shakesphere's writings would've lacked focus.
