ISB
UAA's Department of Biological Sciences offers students three undergraduate degrees--the BS in Biological Sciences, a BA in Biological Sciences, and a unique degree called the BS in Natural Sciences. The opportunities for undergraduate research, our diverse and talented faculty, the personal service in our department, and the quality of education found at the University of Alaska Anchorage appeal to many students. We have become one of the largest departments in the entire University of Alaska system with over 520 active majors in our department and continue to make customer service our number one priority. (Numbers reflect BA/BS Biology and BS Natural Sciences students actively taking courses during the Fall 2007 semester.)
The image above is an artist's rendering of the new Integrated Sciences Building that is slated to open in the Fall 2009 semester. We are extremely grateful to the 2005-2006 State of Alaska legislators and former Governor Frank Murkowski for funding this building. We could not have done this without the tireless efforts of our administrators, faculty, staff and most importantly, our students for their relentless testimony and lobbying efforts.
