Purpose
To provide a process for appealing parking citations

Definitions
Appeal: A method by which the recipient of a parking citation can seek the dismissal or modification of a citation.
Policy
Appeal Process
Any parking citation issued at UAA may be appealed through a two-level process. The consecutive levels of appeal are:
First Level: Parking Services Manager
Second Level: Parking Appeals Board
Remedies at the first level must be exhausted before appeals at the second level may be pursued.
Authority
The Parking Appeals Board will be made up of volunteers representing students, staff, and faculty. Its purpose is to impartially adjudicate appeals in accordance with parking rules and regulations and the evidence provided. The decision of the Parking Appeals Board is final—no further appeals are permitted.
Confidentiality
Citations/appeals information is considered private and confidential. All access to citations/appeals information and documentation is limited to official purposes. Using any citations/appeals information for unofficial purposes is strictly prohibited and cause for disciplinary action.
Access to citations/appeals information is restricted to:
the appellant
the registered owner of the vehicle, if other than the appellant
the department director and/or designee
Parking Services employees, in the performance of their duties
Parking Appeals Board members, in the performance of their duties and
UAA employees (e.g., employees of the Office of General Counsel and Administration) in the performance of their duties and consistent with the Buckley Amendment.
