Standard Specimens & Standard Portfolios
A Standard is a pressed specimen or illustration prepared and deposited in a recognised herbarium to demonstrate the diagnostic characteristics of a cultivar.
A Standard Portfolio includes the Standard and all the information relevant to the cultivar.
Searching the Standards Database
The database of Standards will allow you to search for information on Standard Specimens. The concept of Standards is of very recent introduction, so that for many cultivars, there is no entry. However, this is a rapidly expanding collection and the catalogue is updated frequently.
It is hoped that this site will eventually be linked with organizations elsewhere that also hold Standards.
Scientific and/or cultivar name: Data use and protection
The database was last updated April 2000.
