Anemone x hybrida 'September Charm - Photograph copyright RHS The beautiful Japanese anemones are greatly valued for their late flowering, bringing welcome colour in the garden into late autumn. Recent work at Wisley has clarified some long-standing nomenclatural problems.
RHS trials
A trial of Japanese anemones was concluded in 1997. A welcome spin-off from the Trial was an identification key to cultivars of Japanese anemone, available from the Trials department.

Hot water treatment of Anemone x hybrida
Japanese anemones are frequently infested by leaf and bud eelworm, and experimental work has been taking place at Wisley to assess the value of hot water treatment.
