The concept behind this design is the speed at which naturere claims man-made constructs, eventually absorbing them back into the ground, often the original source of the materials.
This garden is at the stage when the original structure is still recognisable, but has become a framework for plants, trees and wildlife to exist in and around. This demonstrates that everything belongs to the same source, despite our attempts to manipulate nature for our own purposes.
The deliberate choice of a house, with its easily recognised elements such as a front door and windows, emphasises the symbolic nature of the concept of a home. Home represents permanence and security, and so the beauty of the plants growing out of the debris of what was once a home is a poignant sight.
Continuous maintenance is required to sustain garden design, otherwise nature will reclaim control. This garden highlights the stark differences and similarities between the man-made and the natural.
