Welcome

Welcome to the Campus Ministry

Your college years can be a very exciting time– away from home and out on your own, making new friends, and experiencing a vast array of new things and ideas. But it can also be a very confusing time. You may be wrestling with questions about your future career, about who you really are, and about your spirituality and faith. You may be looking for the meaning in your life.

Algonquin College Campus Ministry is here to help. We are an interdenominational community servering the personal and spiritual needs of all Algonquin students and staff regardless of background. Students gather for friendship, Bible study, individual counselling, and spiritual reflection. We also meet to discuss issues like relationships, faith, the meaning of life, and social justice. Campus Ministers are on hand to give support and counsel in difficult times such as loneliness or family crisis. We gather in supportive communities for social events, suppers, discussion groups, and service projects. Whether you have a strong faith or you’re simply exploring or you just want to connect with others, Campus Ministry is here for you.

“Campus Ministry Welcomes Chaplain”

A Message from Our Campus Minister

Hello, my name is Yuriy Derkach. I believe that there are no coincidences in life and that everything happens for a reason. God,

in His kindness and love, has blessed me, unworthy as I am, to minister to the students and staff of Algonquin College. I am very grateful for this opportunity and for this new chapter, not only in my life, but for this new chapter in our Campus Ministry.  I believe that we are all on the same journey called life, and I am here to witness to everyone’s experiences of their journeys to God and to share my own experiences of how God has been working in my life. Together, we can help one another on our journeys to the Kingdom of God, and through Christ we can learn from one another and be there for one another. God is wonderful and mysterious, and our whole life is a big mystery. Every person we meet along the way is very special and unique. We can either spend our lives trying to figure out how everything works and miss out on life, or we can begin to live right now, allowing Christ to show us the way as we try to enjoy every moment and learn from every situation.

I encourage you to live every day of your life to the fullest, living as if it were your last, and to be grateful to God for everything. Rejoice in the Lord and glorify His name, and together we may learn how we can become better men and women of God and how, together with Him, we can make the world a better place. I invite everyone to become a part of Campus Ministry, for where two or three are gathered in Christ’s name, He will be present amongst them. Together with Christ, we can learn how to be His true followers and disciples.
