Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience
In conjunction with the Graduate Center, CCNY hosts part of the CUNY Ph.D. program in Psychology in the form of a Training Area in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience. This program trains students to become researchers in the neuroscience of cognition and behavior. Students in this program use cutting-edge technology to explore the neural bases of perception, attention, learning, memory, motivation, decision making, and language. Laboratories employ single-neuron recordings, optical imaging, transcranial magnetic stimulation, electroencephalography, structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging, and neuropharmacological techniques to examine the biology of the mind. Students complete coursework in neuroscience, neuroanatomy, cognitive neuroscience, experimental design and statistics.
