Jewish Studies Program

Last Fall, Rabbi Manny Vinas, the Marvin & Edward Kaplan Lecturer in in this seminar, a five day trip to the Dominican Jewish communities. Below, three of our majors (from Israel, Bangladesh and the Czech Republic) meet in Sosua with Mr. Luis Hess, now 98 and the first settler in Sosua from the German-Jewish community.

Many thanks as well to the Dominican Studies Institute of CUNY, for helping us with the many details of our itinerary in the Dominican Republic.
