Mission:

The City College School of Education prepares knowledgeable, reflective and caring educators who are qualified and committed to teaching and leading diverse communities. ( Vision Statement, Conceptual Framework)

We welcome students who want to study education in preparation for a variety of career paths. We are the oldest public School of Education in New York City and reflect the newest thinking in the field. We provide teaching and leadership programs, undergraduate and graduate courses and professional development opportunities that are state-of-the art. The School of Education at The City College of New York is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), 2010 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036; phone (202) 466-7496. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs. NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel.
