Research and Public Scholarship Opportunities through the Powell Center

1. Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR)

CBPR is … a collaborative approach to research that involves all partners (community, academic, policymakers) equitably in all aspects of the research process.

Our Goal:
The Center seeks to increase the practice of community-based participatory research at CCNY.

What We Do:  The Center provide CBPR grants, technical assistance, and training to CCNY faculty and their community-based research partners to further effective CBPR. We also help researchers to form partnerships with community organizations and assist research teams to develop successful CBPR experiences. Learn more (FAQs)

2. Public Scholarship

Public Scholarship is... the use of academic research expertise to address immediate public problems and public-policy concerns. Public scholars disseminate their research findings in ways that are easily accessible to non-academic audiences.

Our Goal: The Center aims to make academic research and research findings more relevant and accessible to policy makers and the educated public.

What We Do: The Center provides grants, writing workshops, and publication support to faculty who wish to bring their research to the attention of the public and policymakers.
