Veterans Support Services

WOU expands program to support Oregon Reservists

The reservists who were denied normal deployment benefits under the obscure Section 12304b of Title 10 of the U.S. Code will be eligible for WOU’s expanded Voyager Award scholarship program. Members of the National Guard or Reserves who are Oregon residents and meet the military service requirements will be eligible to receive up to four years of tuition assistance.

WOU is prepared to support the Oregon Reservist and National Guard service members who were denied benefits as a result of Section 12304b through WOU's Voyager Award. We will maintain our commitment to our veterans and their endeavors to achieve a post-secondary education without a financial burden impeding their academic career. We strive to be the most military-friendly university in Oregon.

Application Fee Waived

Western Oregon recognizes the members of the U.S. Armed Forces and Honorably discharged Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces by exempting them from paying the $60 admissions application fee.  Provide a copy of your DD-214, or, for current military members, a copy of your most recent military orders, Enlisted Records Brief (ERB), or Officer Records Brief (ORB).

Once you have completed the online application for admissions form please select the “defer your application fee” box.  When the supporting documents have been received the application fee will be waived and your application will be processed.  You can fax the required forms listed above to 503-838-8067, scan and e-mail them to wolfgram@wou.edu, or reach out to our Veterans Services Coordinator Holberta@wou.edu
