Drums of Winter film
"Drums of Winter" is a documentary exploring the role of dance and music in the culture of the Yupik Eskimo people of Emmonak, located on the Bering Sea coast. The film shows how the community weaves new songs and dances into their traditional potlatch ceremonies and how their spiritual beliefs have survived the influence of Western cultures. "Drums of Winter" was added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2006. Leonard Kamerling, one of the film's directors, will be present for a question-and-answer session after the film.
