Description: Western Oregon University?s department of theater and dance invites you to experience Shakespeare?s romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. A young man and woman meet by chance and fall instantly in love. But their families are bitter enemies, and in order to be together, the two lovers must be prepared to risk everything. Set in a city torn apart by feuds and gang warfare, "Romeo and Juliet" is a dazzling combination of passion and hatred, bawdy comedy and high tragedy. Directed by WOU faculty member Ted deChatelet, the play will feature rousing sword fights, Italian Renaissance costumes and live period music provided by WOU?s Early Music Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Dirk Freymuth. The title roles will be played by Luke Armstong (Lebanon, OR) and Lindsay Joliff (San Diego, CA) and will feature approximately seventeen other student actors. Western Oregon University will present Romeo and Juliet Thursday, February 28 ? Saturday, March 2 and Thursday, March 7 ?Saturday March 9 at 7:30 PM in Rice Auditorium on the WOU campus.
