Civil Rights Film Series
The sociology Department will once again offer a Civil Rights Film Series course this Winter Term. It meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:50 in ITC 211 (Auditorium). Personal Fitness Trainer
For the aspiring and experienced fitness professional working one-on-one with exercise clients, this three-day certification workshop includes lectures, practical demonstration and both written and practical exams. It covers exercise physiology, anatomy, kinesiology and injury prevention. The course also includes fitness assessment testing procedures (3-minute step test, sit-and-reach, push-up/abdominal crunch, body composition screening with skin-fold caliper measurements), nutrition fundamentals and weight management, special populations and medical considerations, communication skills, leadership and motivational coaching, exercise programming in the weight room, and wellness programming and riskfactor assessment guidelines. The course objectives are consistent with those of the National Board of Fitness Examiners. Although this course will help prepare you for both AFAA's Personal Fitness Trainer Certification and the Personal Fitness Trainer National Boards, successful completion of the course does not guarantee you will pass either examination. Deadline for Freshman Scholarships and Provost Transfer Scholarship
Students entering WOU Fall Term 2013 as a new freshman must provide a complete admission file and submit all required scholarship documents by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on February 28 to receive consideration for the Presidential Scholarship, General Scholarships/Awards and the Diversity Commitment Scholarship. Romeo & Juliet
Western Oregon University?s department of theater and dance invites you to experience Shakespeare?s romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. A young man and woman meet by chance and fall instantly in love. But their families are bitter enemies, and in order to be together, the two lovers must be prepared to risk everything. Set in a city torn apart by feuds and gang warfare, "Romeo and Juliet" is a dazzling combination of passion and hatred, bawdy comedy and high tragedy. Directed by WOU faculty member Ted deChatelet, the play will feature rousing sword fights, Italian Renaissance costumes and live period music provided by WOU?s Early Music Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Dirk Freymuth. The title roles will be played by Luke Armstong (Lebanon, OR) and Lindsay Joliff (San Diego, CA) and will feature approximately seventeen other student actors. Western Oregon University will present Romeo and Juliet Thursday, February 28 ? Saturday, March 2 and Thursday, March 7 ?Saturday March 9 at 7:30 PM in Rice Auditorium on the WOU campus. There will be one matinee at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 3. Friday, March 1st performance is interpreted. Tickets for Romeo and Juliet can be reserved at the Rice Auditorium box office by calling 503-838-8462. Box Office hours are Monday ? Friday 12:30 ? 4:30 PM.

Description: The sociology Department will once again offer a Civil Rights Film Series course this Winter Term. It meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:50 in ITC 211 (Auditorium). We offer this course as a contribution to Black History Month and also as a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King and other heroes of the Civil Rights Movement. The series also will include some films on the civil rights struggles of Native Americans. Everyone is welcome whether they are enrolled for the class or not. Bring your popcorn. See you there!

Description: Western Oregon University?s department of theater and dance invites you to experience Shakespeare?s romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. A young man and woman meet by chance and fall instantly in love. But their families are bitter enemies, and in order to be together, the two lovers must be prepared to risk everything. Set in a city torn apart by feuds and gang warfare, "Romeo and Juliet" is a dazzling combination of passion and hatred, bawdy comedy and high tragedy. Directed by WOU faculty member Ted deChatelet, the play will feature rousing sword fights, Italian Renaissance costumes and live period music provided by WOU?s Early Music Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Dirk Freymuth. The title roles will be played by Luke Armstong (Lebanon, OR) and Lindsay Joliff (San Diego, CA) and will feature approximately seventeen other student actors. Western Oregon University will present Romeo and Juliet Thursday, February 28 ? Saturday, March 2 and Thursday, March 7 ?Saturday March 9 at 7:30 PM in Rice Auditorium on the WOU campus. There will be one matinee at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 3. Friday, March 1st performance is interpreted. Tickets for Romeo and Juliet can be reserved at the Rice Auditorium box office by calling 503-838-8462. Box Office hours are Monday ? Friday 12:30 ? 4:30 PM.
