The Government Inspector

Western Oregon University will present The Government Inspector Wednesday, Nov. 20 through Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Rice Auditorium on the WOU campus. There will be one matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17. Western Oregon University's department of theater and dance invites you to experience the madcap antics and hilarity of a group of small-town Russian folk in Jeffrey Hatcher's adaptation of Nicolai Gogol's classic comic romp, The Government Inspector. When the locals in a small Russian hamlet learn that an undercover government inspector is coming for a surprise visit, an unfortunate case of mistaken identity sends the whole village spiraling into a world of panic and greed. Witty, smart and wildly satirical, this timely and spirited adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's classic play exposes the corruption of a provincial town with biting hilarity. Directed by WOU professor David Janoviak, the play will feature broad comedy, outlandish period costumes and music, mayhem and polka. The title role will be played by Luke Armstong (Lebanon, OR) and the supporting cast includes Oliver Bergh (Portland, OR) as The Mayor, Janelle Davis (Otis, OR) as The Mayor?s Wife, Trevor Jackson (Salem, OR) as The School Master, and Tia Laulusa (Portland, OR) and Rosie Peterson (Albany, OR) as Bobchinsky and Dobchinsky, as well as many others. Tickets for The Government Inspector can be purchased at the Rice Auditorium box office by calling 503-838-8462. Box Office hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 PM.

Description: Western Oregon University will present The Government Inspector Wednesday, Nov.
