Volunteer Opportunity: Holocaust Remembrance Day

Students, clubs, and organizations are invited to assist with putting out flags on Sunday April 7th 3:00pm-5:00pm and/or picking up flags on Monday April 8th 5:00pm , please fill out the corresponding link below. SLA would love to have as many volunteers as possible, and will be out there rain or shine. Without the assistance of our volunteers, it would not be possible to put out the 25,000+ flags needed for this program each year. Volunteers will be meeting at the East Entrance of the Werner University Center. Holocaust Remembrance Day

Flags are placed along Monmouth Avenue to represent lives lost during the Holocaust. Each flag color represents a population size and group. Signs will be posted to explain the meanings.

Author Book Talk and Sign

Chuck Johnson, who wrote the first Robert Straub (former Oregon governor and state treasurer) biography, will be giving a book reading and talk with WOU Professor Mark Henkels (Political Science). His book, Standing at the Water's Edge: Bob Straub's Battle for the Soul of Oregon, will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served at 5:00, speakers will begin at 5:30.

The Wonderful Wizard of WOU Drag Show

WOU's Triangle Alliance is having their annual drag show!! Join us as we take you through a drag-tastic adventure down the yellowbrick road. The show holds emphasis on choreographed dance with leads in Drag, utilizing music and narration to tell an intricate story that's bound to keep you mesmerized. Tickets will be 5 dollars at the door. If you'd like to purchase tickets before the night of, look for our tables in Werner Center the week before the show! Doors open at 7. Show starts at 7:30. Warning: This show has instances of Partial Nudity, Sexuality, Drug References, Violence and Glittery Fabulousness. Viewer Discretion is Advised. Spring Visit

WOU's Spring Visit is the last campus visitation program for the academic year. The Office of Admissions will waive the admission application fee for freshmen and transfer students who apply for Fall Term 2013 during the program. Program activities will include information sessions, an admission application workshop and campus tours.

One of the world's premiere tenor saxophone players, Grammy winning Lovano has recorded and toured with many of the major jazz musicians of the last 20th century, including Herbie Hancock,Elvin Jones, Charlie Haden, Bobby Hutcherson, Dave Brubeck, Abbey Lincoln, McCoy Tyner, Jim Hall, and Bob Brookmeyer, among many others. At this Smith Series performance, Joe Lovano will be backed by the always exciting American Metropole Orchestra.
