Do you or anyone you know use programs like LimeWire or BitTorrent?
These types of programs are known as "P2P" or Peer to Peer file sharing programs. Downloading or sharing any copyrighted material is ILLEGAL. This includes songs, movies, and software.
Our recent concern stems from the recent partnering of the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) with a lawfirm. Over 400 lawsuits have been sent nationwide, with many sure to follow. We want to educate our residents so they understand that filesharing copyrighted material is illegal and could have legal and/or financial consequences. As we don't want this to happen to anyone, we are advising residents to uninstall (then reboot) any P2P programs, and delete any material that was acquired illegally.
