Because of the educational value of on-campus living, all single freshmen without dependents and who enter WOU within one year of high school graduation are required to spend their first year in university-operated housing. WOU offers a variety of accommodations for on-campus living. With the exception of a block of apartments within Spruce Hall, all rooms, suites and apartments are set up for occupants of the same gender. Availability of specific options is subject to demand and facility designation.
First year students who enroll at WOU within one year of high school graduation regardless of class standing must live on campus for the full academic year (Fall, Winter and Spring terms). Exceptions to this requirement may be requested by petition. Exceptions that are generally approved are as follows:
