University Housing & Campus Dining

Freshman Live-In Requirement

First year students who enroll at WOU within one year of high school graduation regardless of class standing must live on campus for the full academic year (Fall, Winter and Spring terms). Exceptions to this requirement may be requested by petition. Exceptions that are generally approved are as follows:

  • Living at Home with Parents, within a 30 mile radius of WOU.
  • Having a Dependent that is living with you.
  • Marriage.

Other exceptions will be evaluated, but are generally not approved.

JULY MAILING - Our much-anticipated July Mailing with information about how to access hall placements and roommate assignments HAS BEEN MAILED! This information was mailed out to in-coming students on Monday, July 23rd. In addition to the above access information, the following items were also enclosed within the July Mailing:
    On move-in day, please report to the hall that you have been assigned to. If you are uncertain of your hall placement, please come to the University Housing Office located on the ground floor of Ackerman Hall, (#1 on the Residence Hall Map)

    NOTE: Barnum, Butler and Gentle residents will be checking in at Gentle Hall (#3 on the Residence Hall Map)
    Arbor Park Residents will check in at the Sequoia Commons building (#10 on the Residence Hall Map)

    Residents arriving for late check-in should come to the University Housing office located on the ground floor of Ackerman Hall, (#1 on the Residence Hall Map) during regular business hours, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, M-F.

    For after-hours check-in, report first to the hall that you have been assigned to, if you cannot find staff there, please report to the Residential Service Center (#6 on the Residence Hall Map).

    SUMMER HOUSING CHECK IN

    --> Staff will be on hand to welcome new residents starting at Noon. The check-in process for new residents is scheduled to run from Noon - 5:00 pm.

    NEW RESIDENTS SHOULD REPORT TO THE CENTRAL AREA OF THE BUILDING TO WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED. PLEASE USE THE LINK BELOW TO ACCESS DETAILED INFORMATION REGARDING CHECK-IN.

    NEW RESIDENTS STILL NEEDING TO CHECK-IN SHOULD REPORT TO THE UNIVERSITY HOUSING OFFICE during office hours (8 am - 5 pm) LOCATED ON THE MAIN FLOOR OF ACKERMAN HALL - #1 on the campus map (link below). FOR AFTER HOURS CHECK-IN, PLEASE REPORT TO THE RESIDENTIAL SERVICE CENTER (#6 on the campus map).

    Don't know what a Hall Host is - or does? The PRIMARY role of the Hall Host - and their residence hall room, is to provide an opportunity for prospective students and their families to actually view a typical first year living space, and the opportunity to meet and talk with a current residential student. In addition, these students will also participate in various recruitment programs coordinated by the Admissions office. Now that you know all that . . .

    RHA and University Housing would like to invite interested individuals to apply for the First-Year Liaison position for the 2012-2013 academic year.

    THESE POSITIONS ARE FOR IN-COMING FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ONLY - APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY 5:00 PM, FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2012.
    Interested individuals are encouraged to apply! Completed applications are DUE by 5:00 pm, Friday, June 8, 2012!

    --> Check-In for Spring Term has been completed. Any student needing to check into a residential room at this point should report to the University Housing office, located in Ackerman Hall. If you need assistance, please contact University Housing at housing@wou.edu.

    RETURNING STUDENTS NEEDING TO CHECK OUT OF THE RESIDENCE HALLS PLEASE NOTE:

    If you find during the break that you will not be returning to live on campus, you must check out of your residence hall room properly.

    Start by contacting the Office of University Housing and Campus Dining.

    • You M-U-S-T complete your move out by 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2013 !
    • Please note: the residential student M-U-S-T be present to complete the check out/ move out process.

      • Students moving out ON or AFTER March 31st will be charged for a minimum of 10 days.

      TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

      • WOLF RIDE Wolf Ride is a FREE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE for WOU STUDENTS.
      • Wolf Ride is available Monday - Sunday, from 5:00 pm - 12:00 am. Wolf Ride can be used for transportation needs within the Wolf Ride Service Area (the Monmouth/Independence area.)

      • CARTS See Route 40 Polk County for local transportation needs.

      • Also contact: SMART's Metro (503-682-7790) which can also be caught at the (Salem) Transit Mall and transports to Wilsonville where connections with Tri-Met can be made for service from Salem to Portland.

      • HUT Portland Airport Shuttle
