University Housing & Campus Dining

Freshman Live-In Requirement

First year students who enroll at WOU within one year of high school graduation regardless of class standing must live on campus for the full academic year (Fall, Winter and Spring terms). Exceptions to this requirement may be requested by petition. Exceptions that are generally approved are as follows:

  • Living at Home with Parents, within a 30 mile radius of WOU.
  • Having a Dependent that is living with you.
  • Marriage.

Other exceptions will be evaluated, but are generally not approved.

Winter Break

Basic information regarding the upcoming Winter Break (Saturday, December 11 - Noon, Sunday, January 2, 2011) is listed below. For more detailed information regarding the break, please use the link below.

  • The Residence Halls will close at 5:00 pm, Friday, December 10, 2010
  • Valsetz Dining Hall closes at 5:00 pm, Friday, December 10, 2010
  • There will be NO Food Service until Noon, Sunday, January 2, 2011
  • The Wolf Express will be open in the WUC, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Student Meal Cards will work for purchases here during this time period, but keep in mind that WINTER TERM Meal Plan dollars will NOT be added until after the Holiday Break.
  • Students may stay in their residential rooms during this break. Student accounts will be billed for $200.00 for staying for all or any part of the break. Arbor Park residents are not billed for this break charge. Students wishing to stay during the break must sign up to do so on the wou portal at: http://www.wou.edu/wouportal/ http://www.wou.edu/wouportal/ before 4:30 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
  • Extra Security Students who wish to have a "lockout" device placed on their door, or have their locks placed in lockout mode (for electronic locks)for extra security must request to do so in writing in the University Housing office before 4:30 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2010. All occupants of the room must sign the lockout request sheet if a lockout device is requested.
