Facility Closures

The Health and Wellness Center may be closed and/or reservations canceled when warranted. During official university holidays and breaks, facilities may be closed or operate with limited hours. In addition, required maintenance and staff training may necessitate closure of parts or all of affected facilities.

Inclement Weather Policy

The Health and Wellness Center is included in the essential facilities and services of Western Oregon University. Therefore, when classes are in session and the campus is closed or classes are cancelled the HWC will follow the Inclement Weather operational hours listed below. When classes are not in session and the campus is closed the HWC will not open.

Inclement Weather Operational Hours

Classes in session

Classes not in session

The Campus Recreation Department inclement weather policy is designed to accommodate on-campus student residents that desire to stay active during campus closures. We discourage anyone from driving in severe weather to campus in order to utilize Campus Recreation facilities or activities.

In cases of extremely severe weather, Campus Recreation reserves the right to determine whether or not the HWC will be open or closed to protect the safety of its participants and staff. All or portions of facilities may be forced to close in the event that they are directly impacted by the weather. We strongly encourage individuals to call 503-838-9530 or check the specific term hours of operations page above.

In case of inclement weather, where the Western Oregon University cancels classes:

  • All Campus Recreation classes (learn-to-swim, youth climbing, etc) will also be cancelled, make-up classes will be communicated to participants.
  • All Campus Recreation programs may be held on instructor availaiblity and facility operational hours.
  • All Campus Recreation practices and games (intramural and club sport) will also be cancelled.
