The Campus Recreation Department positions are designed to give students tools and training for a lifetime of success, both personally and professionally.

The Campus Recreation Department is looking for friendly, self-sufficient individuals who will promote the health of its members. This individual should work cooperatively alongside other staff members and be willing to perform multiple job responsibilities. Duties of Campus Recreation staff may include, but are not limited to, providing information about the facility, selling memberships and activity classes, resolving member conflicts and performing specific cleaning duties.

Promoting safety and cleanliness is an important goal for the Campus Recreation staff. We seek to provide a positive environment and have friendly interactions with the users. Candidates should have a great work ethic and be adaptable to the Campus Recreation environment.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of working within the Campus Recreation Department student employees will:
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and effective reasoning emphasizing safety and risk management.
  • Exhibit transferable skills that can assist in their future employment.
Minimum Qualifications
Position American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer Other Certifications Previous Experience

Facility Supervisor



Management and/or supervisory; previously CRD experience

Climbing Specialist


CWI-A minimum
(Climbing Wall Instructor)

Climbing and bouldering



Lifeguard Training
(American Red Cross)


Swim Instructor


Water Safety Instructor
(American Red Cross)

Teaching lessons

Fitness Instructor


Nationally Recognized Certification
(AFAA, ACE, etc)

Participation in a variety of group fitness classes

Intramural Supervisor



Officiating and/or particiaption in sports
