WOU & You Billboard project

During 2007 spring term, WOU students were offered the chance to create a billboard design that might be used by the university as part of its overall marketing plan. Students from different academic majors collaborated on this project with the active guidance and support of WOU faculty.

A listing of the students and faculty is provided below. Their efforts demonstrate the talent of WOU students, the support and quality of the WOU faculty, and WOU’s focus on providing students with meaningful learning opportunities across the curriculum. This project is another example of how WOU’s focus upon student learning and success delivers meaningful learning opportunities for our students. This effort effectively addressed many of the university’s eleven institutional aspirations for student learning.

The first three billboard designs were selected for use in the WOU campaign. A fourth complementary design was added to allow the university to run four different images. The billboards are posted in Portland and Vancouver with locations rotating on a monthly basis.

The other designs posted were quality efforts, but did not match the university’s marketing goals as well. We are grateful and proud of the work of this student and faculty team.

Selected quotes

"There is so much talent at our school and this was a great opportunity for the students to step up and prove it."

"As I approach graduation I feel as though my future can go in any direction, it is wide open with no boundaries or borders. This is the feel that I wanted my billboard designs to have. I also wanted to represent different aspects of interests because whether you're a dance major, an art major or a psych major, we all have unlimited opportunities with the paths that we choose."
