Admissions counseling

For students utilizing military, veteran, or dependent benefits.

Provide outreach to the military and veteran community in and around the state of Oregon.

My name is Kyle Rodgers

Kyle Rodgers

I am an Admissions Counselor and Veterans Coordinator for Western Oregon University. I graduated from WOU in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Policy and Administration, concentrating in Law Enforcement and Corrections. I still attend WOU part-time as a student, taking classes toward my Master's degree in Sociology. I transferred to WOU as a Junior with an Associate's degree in Psychology from Orange Coast College in Southern California, although I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I began my college career shortly after serving a four year enlistment with the United States Marine Corps. In my free time I am an avid snowboarder and mountain biker, taking full advantage of the beautiful terrain Oregon has to offer.

My experiences have made me familiar with both the VA education benefits process and the difficulties of transitioning between the military and academic cultures. After deploying twice to Iraq, I soon found myself in a college classroom with little support. However, Western Oregon University has given me the opportunity to capitalize on the lessons I learned as a student veteran by employing me in the unique position to specifically focus on the military community. It is my honor to serve the current generation of veterans, their families, National Guard and Reservists, and active duty troops still serving our great country. I am available to answer any and all military-related questions and look forward to serving you.

Out of State: Travel to military bases primarily in the nearby states of California and Washington. Also assists with: As Veterans Coordinator, I am also able to assist with a wide range of military issues through the Veteran Success Center that may go beyond the standard scope of education, such as cultural differences or disability services related to combat experience.

Kyle Rodgers' Territory: Provide outreach to the military and veteran community in and around the state of Oregon.
