All first and second year SEP students who receive a Pell Grant are eligible to apply for the SEP grant.
Is it really worth it?
That is something that only you can answer…
Do I automatically get it?
Just like with any grant, there is an application and selection process. You must complete the application, write an essay and
have it reviewed by the writing center, fill out an SEP activities grid and provide us with an activities resume (all the instructions
are included with the application packet).
What can the money be used for?
An award will be used to make up for any unmet need in paying for school…If school cost you $18,000 and your financial aid
package was for $16,000, there is $2000 of unmet need…this grant can be used to help cover that difference. Also, if you
have loans, this award can be used to reduce the amount of loans that you have.
How do you decide who gets the award?
There are several different things that are looked at. Have you taken or are you enrolled in SEP classes, have you come to our workshops or events and have you met with your SEP advisor?
Now is a great time to set up your appointment with your advisor, they will be more than happy to help you with your application. You don’t want to miss out on this opportunity!
