  • Costumer's Manifesto
    One of the largest and most comprehensive costume web sites. Provides an excellent overview of costume history from ancient times to World War II. Also provides links to a wide range of other costume-related web sites.
  • Dramatists Play Service
    Major publisher of acting editions of English language plays. Use the playfinder to find scripts of plays currently in print.
  • Playbill On-line
    Provides listings, news, and feature articles about current productions and performers appearing on Broadway.
  • Internet Broadway Database
    The official database for Broadway theatre information. Provides records of productions from the beginnings of New York theatre until today. Documents people involved in productions, as well as interesting facts and production statistics.
  • Internet Movie Database
    A great source for quick facts about thousands of movies.
  • Musicals101.com
    A online encyclopedia providing information about musical theatre, TV and film. Authored by John Kenrick since 1996.
  • Speak the speech
    Provides audio performances of Shakespeare's plays.
  • Selected Performing Arts Internet Resources
    Extensive lists maintained by the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Includes general lists as well as specialized lists for Arts administration, Dance, Film, and Theatre.

Grants and Foundations

  • Artslynx Arts Funding list
    A handy list of sites that provide information about arts funding.
  • Oregon Arts Commission
    A division of the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department that seeks to foster the arts in Oregon and maintain their excellence. Nine commissioners, appointed by the governor, determine policies, establish long-range plans, and review applications to grants programs to determine funding levels.
  • Oregon Cultural Trust
    A statewide cultural plan to raise significant new funds to invest in Oregon's arts, humanities and heritage. Plans to distribute more than $90 million in grant funds throughout the state over the next decade.
  • Theatre Development Fund
    The largest non-profit service organization for the performing arts in the U.S. In addition to TDF's most visible program, its TKTS� discount ticket booths in Times Square and South Street Seaport, TDF administers a range of audience development and financial assistance programs that encourage production of new plays and musicals and enable more people to enjoy the riches and variety of New York City's theatre, dance and music.

  • Actors' Equity Association
    The labor union representing over 45,000 American actors and stage managers working in the professional theatre.
  • Actors' Fund
    A non-profit organization that provides for the social welfare of all entertainment professionals, including: actors, designers, writers, sound technicians, musicians, dancers, administrators, directors, film editors, and stagehands.
  • American Dance Guild
    A non-profit membership organization concerned with promoting the art of dance. Serves the needs of performers, choreographers, teachers and students through all stages of their development and careers.
  • American Guild of Musical Artists
    A national labor union representing opera and concert singers, production personnel and dancers at principal opera, concert and dance companies throughout the United States.
  • Congress on Research in Dance
    An organization devoted to encouraging scholars in dance to research, publish, and discuss material from all areas of dance.
  • Dance Educators of America
    An organization for dance professionals dedicated to improving the quality and teaching abilities of its member teachers and enhancing their education of students, as well as furthering the professional and ethical standards in the performing and stage arts and of dance in all its forms.
  • Dance Heritage Coalition
    A national alliance of institutions holding significant collections of materials documenting the history of dance. Its mission is to preserve, make accessible, enhance and augment the materials that document the artistic accomplishments in dance of the past, present, and future. Provides the Choreographing your search tutorial on in-depth dance research, focusing on primary sources available in archives and research libraries. Also maintains a list that provides links to finding aids that list primary source documents relevant to dance research.
  • Dance USA
    A national service organization for the professional dance community. Web site provides a variety of information, including links to web sites of dance companies active in the U.S.
  • National Dance Education Organization
    A non-profit organization dedicated to promoting standards of excellence in dance education by providing a network of resources and support for the the dance artist and the dance educator, including a base for advocacy and access to programs and projects that focus on the importance of dance in the human experience.
  • Screen Actors Guild
    A labor union representing film and television actors. Web site provides information about the organization, the contracts it negotiates, and general information on careers in acting.
  • Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers
    A national independent labor union representing directors and choreographers throughout the United States and abroad.
