Spring 2014 Spring Public Reception: Wednesday, April 9, 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
featuring preview performances of May Day Recreation by WOU Dance Program at 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Maple Hall Celebrating 100 years
A WOU Archives exhibit curated by Erin Passehl-Stoddart and Jerrie Lee Parpart

Dedicated in 1914 as the fi rst campus gymnasium, Maple Hall celebrates 100 years of service to the Western Oregon University campus. This exhibit features the many activities and people associated with Maple Hall. Through its evolution as a gymnasium, student recreation center, ROTC training, and dance studio, Maple Hall remains a place for active learning and a place to showcase creativity.

2nd floor gallery ~ April 1 - June 13, 2014

May Day Recreation - May 1st at Maple Hall, 2:00 p.m.

In honor of the centennial celebration of Maple Hall, the WOU Dance Program has recreated dance from May Day celebrations in the early 1920s. Maple Hall has been used for dance from its construction as a gymnasium 100 years ago. We invite you to join the birthday celebration with light refreshments following the performances.

Herstory & History
A SirS, Inc / Library of Congress traveling exhibit

Abstract images of woman abound in history, representing some of the most enduring human ideals - sovereignty, justice, nature itself. These images are juxtapose with history to see some to the ways in which image and reality interweave and influence the forming of gender rules and roles by successive generations.

Boycott! The Art of Economic Activism
An American Friends Service Committee traveling exhibit

59 posters from more than twenty boycotts, including the Montgomery Bus Boycott, United Farm Workers’ grape and lettuce boycott, divestment from South Africa to protest Apartheid, boycotts of corporations using sweatshops, the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divest and Sanctions, and many others.

Reverberations of the Great War
A SirS, Inc / Library of Congress traveling exhibit

2014-2018 marks the centennial of the Great War. "The War to End All Wars," - where methods and weaponry of modern warfare was born, tens of millions of people were killed or maimed, empires were distroyed - left the planet shaken and its peoples exhausted, cynical, and much less certain of the future. Augmenting the posters are poems written by soldiers selected by Dr. Henry Hughes. WOU Humanities.
