Welcome to the Robert Straub Archives
" Few people have done so much for so many of the people of Oregon."
Before entering public service, Robert William Straub worked in logging, construction and ranching. These experiences gave him a special understanding of the needs of people and a life-long love of the outdoors.
Straub had a no nonsense approach during his time as Governor and left a record of outstanding accomplishments in education, the environment, jobs, land use, energy and programs for the elderly and the poor. His political career spanned twenty-four years, from 1954 to 1978.
