Is there a place for prayer or meditation on the WOU campus?

Yes! A prayer and meditation room is available for student use in Maaske Hall. It is a quiet room, with a window facing the library, and contains various books on religion and meditation.

How can I transfer my previous University's credits to WOU?

I want to get a job on campus. What should I do?

• Find a job on-campus: http://www.wou.edu/student/career/wolflink.php
• Complete the on-campus employment form for international students and submit it to the ISSA office.
• Take the letter you receive from the ISSA office, your passport, I-20, and WOU ID card and get a social security number at the social security office.
• Submit the receipt from the social security office to the payroll office at WOU.
• Begin working.
• Once the official social security card arrives, show it to the payroll office at WOU.

I want to take a class at another college. What should I do?

• Research the college or University you plan to take courses from. Contact them about deadlines in applying or about their non-degree seeking policy or concurrent enrollment policy.
• Complete the Concurrent Enrollment Form online: http://www.wou.edu/provost/international/online_forms/concurrent_enrollment_request.php
• Take the letter from the ISSA office to the college or university you plan to take courses at and complete their procedures.
• If you will enroll in less than full time courses at WOU, you will need to submit detailed class schedule : It must contain your full name, school name, term of attendance, names of classes being taken, and number of credits. Turn it in to the ISSA office at the beginning and end of the term.

I need to renew my U.S. Visa. What should I do?

• First of all, know that even if your U.S. Visa expires, you are allowed to stay in the United States as long as your I-20 or DS-2019 is valid and current. You will only need a U.S. visa if you are traveling outside the United States (excluding trips under 30 days to Canada or Mexico).
• Research on your country's U.S. Embassy website what the requirements are for renewing your U.S. Visa.
• Get a travel signature from the ISSA office before you exit the United States and collect any needed documents such as an official academic transcript, proof of address, or financial documentation.

How do I order an "Academic Transcript", "Proof of Curriculum", or "Record of Grades" from Western Oregon University?

• Please visit the Registrar's Office in the Administration Building at WOU or this link to order an academic Transcript.

I want to print out a temporary insurance card because I have not received one. What should I do?

• Gallagher Koster offers a detailed website in which you can create an Account so that students are able to track their claims, print an ID card, print the forms to submit a claim for reimbursement, find a doctor, etc. Students that are enrolled in this plan should go to their website and create an account today. Just go to https://www.gallagherkoster.com/students/user-login.php?idField=1168. Once there, fill in the information under the "Create Account", be sure to have your student ID number ready as you will need this to create your account.

I have a hold on my account. What does it mean and how do I remove it?

• There are various reasons your account could have a hold. Listed below are the most common reasons and where you should visit to get the hold removed.
• Hold Type: JH Hudicial Hold. See the Judicial Affairs Office or Tina Fuches.

How do I report an absence from classes due to an emergency?

Student Absence Notification:  The VP for Student Affairs office will continue to assist students in cases of unforeseen emergencies that keep them from attending class (generally more than one day).  An online form is now available for students to use in making a request for this service. The online form is available at this url:  http://www.wou.edu/student/absence_notification_request.php 
A copy of the form is attached.  Please note that our message to students continues to be: that class absences can only be approved by faculty, that documentation may be required, and the notification to our office does not fulfill a student's responsibility to maintain communication with faculty.  It is our protocol to provide this notification of faculty as a service to students with emergency situations.  Emergency situations are most often an unplanned multiple day hospitalization, death in family, car accident, or seriously ill family member.  Emergency situations are not defined as:  chronic medical conditions, follow-up doctor appointments, court dates, attending memorial service of a friend, scheduled surgeries, helping family/friend move, etc. More information can be found in the WUC Student Affairs Office.

What is the Wolf Ride?

WOLF Ride service hours are expanded this academic year.  Free rides within Monmouth and Independence from 5pm to 12am, Monday through Sunday.  Rides are provided free to WOU students on a first-come, first-served basis.  More information about WOU Safe Ride program is available at this url:

You can get proof of enrollment through your Wolf Web account.
First, log into your WOU Portal
