Mission
The WOU Reading Endorsement program focuses on preparing K-12 teachers to be reading specialists or to improve their knowledge and skills in teaching reading. This 24-credit graduate program focuses on reading theory, curriculum, assessment, and strategies to enhance and broaden both reading specific knowledge and other responsibilities encountered by classroom teacher, resource teacher, and reading specialist. The program leads to an add-on endorsement to an Oregon teaching license. Complete the Reading program by itself or in conjunction with a graduate degree program.

Credit Requirements
The program requires 24 credits to be completed.

Program Format
Students must complete 18 credits in addition to a 6 credit practicum. Students must also pass the Reading PRAXIS exam.
