Welcome to the Division of Extended Programs!

DEP Vision and Mission Statement

The Division of Extended Programs (DEP) in collaboration with the academic colleges and support services at WOU, provides lifelong learning opportunities that are responsive, flexible, and creative for meeting the educational needs of all students.

This mission is accomplished through innovative and creative programming that is consistent with the mission of Western Oregon University and the Office of Academic Affairs and provides unique teaching and service opportunities for WOU faculty.

The Division of Extended Programs has responsibility for off-campus distance education programs, credit overlay and professional development, programming, summer special courses, workshops and outreach to the community.

Western Oregon University is accredited by:

• Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) since 1924
• National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since 1954
• American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE)
• National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)
• Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE)
  1 of only 2 universities accredited in Oregon
• Oregon State Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC)

State Authorization Regulations:

Distance Education students may follow this link for information about filing consumer complaints with your state authorizing agency.   Students who are unable to resolve related grievances at the Institutional level may also file a complaint with our reginal accrediting agency, NWCCU (Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities).
