What is it?

Evernote is a cloud-based notetaking and organization tool that works on your computer, in your web-browser, and on most mobile devices. You can capture screenshots, copy webpages, and even take photos of paper notes. Evernote has text recognition software that will find recognizable words and numbers in your images. This allows you to search for anything, even that phone number you wrote on a napkin. Check out this introduction video to see it in action.

How does it work?

Evernote stores all of your "notes" (text, images, videos, or snippets from the web) remotely, so that you can access them from any device at any time. Instead of carrying around notebooks or your laptop, you can take a photo of a whiteboard or a page in a book with your smart phone and it's instantly available on the web, on your iPad, and on your home computer.

How can I use this in my course?

Evernote can be a great organizational tool for lesson planning or recording class activity, but you can also share your notebooks with your students to deliver content. If you add something to your shared virtual notebook, it's instantly available for everyone to see. Evernote is also a fantastic tool for your students to use, making project management or thesis research a streamlined process. Your students can even give you access to their notes for review.
