BA/BS in Criminal Justice Major: Admission Requirements

There are two parts to the application process. Students must first be admitted to Western Oregon University before beginning the CJ online program. They must also apply to the Criminal Justice program in order to be eligible to complete the required practicum.

Students applying to the Criminal Justice program must satisfy the following:

  • Hold an A.A. or A.S. degree from an accredited institution - OR-
  • Have completed 90 quarter credit hours (60 semester hours)
  • Have completed WR 135 College Writing (or equivalent) and received a "B" or above
  • Have a 2.67 GPA on previous coursework

If you do not meet all of these requirements, you may petition for a waiver. The petition must be made in writing and explain why you believe you should not be held to the above standards.

To be admitted to Western Oregon University, please submit the Undergraduate Admissions Applications

To be admitted into the Criminal Justice Program, please complete and submit the Criminal Justice Program Application and the following items to the address below.

Transcripts from all colleges/universities you have ever attended (unofficial are acceptable)

  • A biographical letter (no longer than 2 pages in length)
  • Copy of current driver’s license or photo ID
