About the Division of Extended Programs

Welcome to the Division of Extended Programs (DEP) located in ITC 204 at Western Oregon University. As the continuing education and professional development arm of WOU, DEP provides:

  • a variety of support and resources for online and other flexible delivery courses;
  • seminars and consultation on academic technologies, instructional design, and emerging pedagogies;
  • and an array of adult, professional, and community educational opportunities and workshops.

Dan Clark

Dan Clark




As the leader of the Center for Academic Innovation, Dan brings more than 15 years of experience in Distance Education, Academic Technology, and Instructional Design. Dan came to Western Oregon from Utah Valley University where he served as Senior Director for Distance Education. Previously, Dan was the Director of the Office of Instructional Design at Valley City State University in Valley City, North Dakota. Dan holds a Ph.D. in Adult Education from North Dakota State University and a Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation from Syracuse University.

Jennifer Keen

Operations Coordinator



Jenn is the Operations Coordinator for the Center of Academic Innovation and has been with WOU for over 10 years. She started out as a temp helping support non-credit workshops and youth camps. As a full time employee she assisted with the Traffic Safety Education program, ESOL endorsement, managed online courses and was part of the Moodle Support Team.

Elayne Kuletz

Strategic Partnerships Manager



Elayne is the Strategic Partnerships Manager for the Center for Academic Innovation. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education. Elayne holds a Master of Science in Education Information Technology from Western Oregon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages from the University of Idaho. She has a patient husband, an old car, and a disobliging habit of setting off several fire alarms when she cooks.

Weiwei Zhang

Academic Technologist


Weiwei is the Academic Technologist in the Center for Academic Innovation. In the past, she worked at Oregon State University as an Education Developer/Trainer, and prior to her new position at WOU, she was the Foreign Language Instructional Technologist at Reed College for 3 years. Weiwei holds a Ph.D. in Education: Teacher Leadership from Oregon State University, a Master's Degree in Education: Information Techonology from Western.
