    Study Tip of the Month

When sitting down to study, seriously consider your environment. Are you in your dorm room? Is your roommate watching a movie or listening to music? Be honest with yourself. Is this the best place for you to bury your head in college books? Probably not. While some students enjoy subtle background noise, most of us believe we are better ‘multitaskers’ than we really are. So the next time you sit down to work on your studies, consider placing yourself in an environment that is most conducive to learning. This means finding a place that is free of distractions. One of the best places for this are the study rooms in the library. Need some tunes? Throw on some Pandora at a low level and get to work free of distractions. You will be surprised the difference it makes. - Jesse Poole, Student Success Specialist
