Western Oregon University (WOU), Oregon's first public university, has a long-standing and deep commitment to serving Oregon and its families. Our historical roots, first as a teacher's college and now as a leading comprehensive liberal arts university, have created the foundation for our work with Oregon schools and communities to increase the educational attainment of the state.
This web site is a resource that provides information on many of our current efforts to support the critical goals of the state's 40-40-20 plan. All projects support our mission of working to " ensure the success of students and the advancement of knowledge as a service to Oregon and the region while working in partnership with PreK-12 schools, community colleges higher education institutions, government and local and global communities".
WOU serves students from all 34 Oregon counties by continuing to provide all Oregonians access to an excellent and affordable education. In recent years WOU has received national recognition from the Education Trust and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities for excellence in student success and teacher preparation.
WOU will be continually updating this website with information on new initiatives that the campus community develops.
