The Annual Salmon Bake Dinner is the Friends of the Jensen Arctic Museum’s primary fundraiser and opportunity to share a fantastic meal with 250-300 museum supporters.
All proceeds from the evening are used to fund museum operations, special exhibits and monthly children’s activities. This event is held on the second Sunday in September at the historic Gentle House seated at the northern edge of Western Oregon University.
The Salmon Bake Dinner features fine food, live entertainment and a Raffle. Dinner includes wild Arctic salmon barbequed on poles arranged around an open fire-pit, is served with seasonal fare, usually including a rice pilaf, corn on the cob, salad and a dessert.
The salmon is caught, filleted and flown to Monmouth from Kotzebue, Alaska just for dinner! Kotzebue is a rural Inuit community located above the Arctic Circle.
