The Annual Salmon Bake Dinner is the Friends of the Jensen Arctic Museum’s primary fundraiser and opportunity to share a fantastic meal with 250-300 museum supporters. All proceeds from the evening are used to fund museum operations, special exhibits and monthly children’s activities.
The Friends of the Museum invite you to eat, learn and play while preserving Oregon’s bit of the Arctic. This year’s dinner theme is Stories of Alaska emceed by long time museum friend, Warren Franklin.
Held at historic Gentle House, at the north edge of the Western Oregon University campus, the event will feature fine food and a number of fundraising activities. The event includes a pit-fired wild Alaskan arctic salmon barbeque accompanied by corn on the cob, coleslaw, rice pilaf and rolls. Hors d'oeuvres and dessert created by Sybaris in Albany.
Tickets are $27 per person if purchased before August 27, $32 after. Tables of eight are available for $225. Entertainment includes live music by Kevin Helppie and Bill Hughes, visiting with Oregon authors Liz Parrish her Iditarod lead dog Crimp, Betty Plude, Colleen Weber, Patrick Wilkins, and Ruth Vincent Willis along with a silent auction and raffles.
The wild Alaskan salmon was caught and transported by Oregonians Tracy Roe and Ray Braswell with the one and only LaVonne Hendricks of LaVonne’s Fish Camp: an education cultural camp and elder hostel in Kotzebue.
Auction and raffle prizes include items from the Eugene Symphony, Golden Valley Brewery Restaurant, Family Fun Center and Bullwinkle’s Restaurant, Jerry’s Rogue Jets, Hoodsport Winery, OMSI, Portland Spirit, Wild Horse Resort & Casino, Artists Repertory Theatre, Northern Lights Theatre Pub, Johan Vineyards, Pentacle Theatre, Ankeny Vineyard, Mariner Square, Newport Tradewinds and more!
