Social science is a cluster of disciplines concerned with the characteristics and interactions of humans in their social and physical settings. These include anthropology, criminal justice geography, history, political science, and sociology. At Western Oregon University, the Social Science Division also includes programs in public policy and administration and international studies. Courses in these disciplines can be combined by individual students to help them prepare for various academic and professional careers.
The Division facility includes the Humanities and Social Science Building (HSS), which houses the classrooms of the anthropology, criminal justice, geography, history, political science, sociology, and public policy and administration faculties are located.
